Allison Sklar

Allison Sklar, Jewish Food project, Federation CJA

Allison is a Montrealer who hates the cold, loves bagels, and likes to make upcycled crafts in her spare time. A pastry chef, a teacher, a food blogger, and an admirer of all things sweet, Allison has been fascinated with cooking since childhood. A vegetarian for over 10 years, she has a love for plant based foods, and her Jewish roots often inspire her dishes. A graduate of the Pearson School of Culinary Arts, Allison previously worked as the head pastry chef at a popular Mile-End restaurant, and currently runs her own business selling custom cakes and desserts.

Fun Fact: Allison studied traditional photography back in college and started taking pictures of her food long before Instagram or Camera phones even existed. How’s that for hipster?

1. What is your favorite Jewish food?
There are so many to choose from, but off the top of my head… it’s got to be potato knishes-the ones with lots of black pepper! I can eat 10 of them in one sitting.

2. What is the strangest thing in your fridge?
Is it strange to have over 10 different hot sauces?

3. What would you eat for your last meal?
A toasted bagel and cream cheese with lox. (I’ve always been a cheap date!)
