  2. Add egg to mixture and knead into a dough.
  3. Divide into balls (tennis ball size). Add a bit of food colouring to each ball, and leave some marzipan a natural colour.
  4. Cut dates lengthwise through each date (but do not slice in half). Remove the pit.
  5. Roll marzipan into cylinders smaller than date and stuff each date.
  6. Decorate with crushed pistachios or walnuts, and Enjoy!
Recipe Notes

What to do with leftover marzipan? Make small balls, and place a piece of walnut on either side.

Ingredients

Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt butter and dissolve sugar slowly, stirring. Once sugar is dissolved, let simmer until the caramel begins to bubble and becomes a slightly darker brown. Be careful not to let it burn!
  2. Preheat oven to 400 F. Lay broken up matzah pieces flat on a cookie sheet, side by side, trying to fill in any gaps. Pour the caramel mixture over the top evenly. Spread with spatula if needed, trying to cover as many of the matzahs as you can.
  3. Sprinkle chocolate over the top.
  4. Bake in oven for 5 to 8 minutes, or until caramel bubbles. Remove from oven and spread chocolate with a spatula to form a coating.
  5. Sprinkle with flaky salt.
  6. Refrigerate for about an hour (or freeze about 20 minutes) until hardened.
  7. Break into pieces, serve and eat! Enjoy!

Instructions
  1. In a large bowl prepare the dough by mixing flour, salt, water, yeast, and 1/4 cup of oil.
  2. Cover with a towel, and let sit in a room temperature for 30 minutes.
  3. After 30 minutes have passed, clean a kitchen counter surface and then spread oil on the surface.
  4. Rub hands with a bit of oil, so that dough does not stick to hands.
  5. Take a piece of dough the size of a small fist, make into a ball.
  6. Continue process until dough has been made into 25-30 balls, lining them so that they have slight space between each other. Allow balls to sit for 15 minutes.
  7. Take one mufletta dough ball, press with hands into the shape of a thin pita. Place dough on oiled counter surface and spread until it forms into a thin crepe, ideally it should not have holes, but does not need to be shaped into perfect circles.
  8. Once you have prepared a few crepes, take a nonstick frying pan, oiled sparingly, on low heat. Have a spatula on hand nearby.
  9. Put your first mufletta on the pan. When the side on the pan has turned golden, place the next mufletta over the first one and flip with spatula.
  10. Continue with each ball, spread thin and add layer, only one side will turn golden and the other side will cook through from the heat of the layers.
  11. After stacking ten, they are ready to be shared
  12. Serve with honey and butter, or homemade preserves.
